As a B Corporation, Quiip is part of a global mission of people who believe that companies should look after their people, their environment and their communities. To that end, we’re proud to announce that we have joined forces with companies such as Atlassian, Salesforce and Yelp in a new model of corporate social responsibility.
Pledge 1% is a global movement that encourages and empowers companies of all sizes and stages to donate 1% of their staff time, product, profit, and/or equity to any charity of their choosing.
At Quiip, we have committed a step further, by pledging 1% of revenue to our chosen charities. Chosen each year by consensus, last year’s charities of choice were the Australian Indigenous Literacy foundation, Sea Shepherd, the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and the Australian Marine Conservation Foundation.
Because the Pledge 1% initiative doesn’t just stop at financial donations, we also pledge our time to give back to the community. Quiip currently pledges 150 hours (1% of our team’s time) to supporting not-for-profits and social enterprises.
“Whilst many organisations offer paid time to staff to volunteer, not as many actively encourage employees to use these hours,“ explains Quiip CEO Alison Michalk. At Quiip we developed our “pro-bono/purpose project” (PPP) to utilise our staff’s skills and increase uptake in giving back.”
Last year, Quiip offered social media strategy, social media management and online community expertise to eight successful recipients. We mapped these recipients to the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) and are proud to have helped incredible organisations such as Beddown, who address homelessness and the Harrison Riedel Foundation, who tackle youth suicide. Other organisations we worked with include, Seaside Scavenge, Guide Dogs Victoria, Rural, Regional, Remote Women’s Network of WA, Sheroes, The Helmsman Project, Pointer Remote and B Lab Australia and New Zealand.
We appreciate all our wonderful PPP clients and our employees who put their hands up to help out. We look forward to expanding this program in 2021.
