Meet The Team: Kelly
At Quiip, we have a diverse team spread across Australia and the globe. We’re always excited to share their unique stories and insights.
Today, let’s get to know Team Lead, Kelly McParlane!

When did you join Quiip and what led you here?
I’ve been working in digital media for more years than I care to admit to; focusing on community management, digital ops and content creation.
When I discovered Quiip in October 2024, their ethical approach to online communities really resonated with me. The opportunity to work with a team who truly understood the nuances of online communities, and the importance of managing those communities, was a huge draw. Quiip felt like a natural step to apply my skills while working with a company that shared my values.
My office is the picturesque Blue Mountains – it’s the best of both worlds with stunning surrounds and a quieter pace, but the city is close when you need it (which is, frankly, not that often!).

What do you enjoy most about working at Quiip?
What I enjoy the most about working at Quiip is the variety. Working across different clients, industries and challenges keeps things dynamic and engaging. No two days are the same. One day I could be working on a drink driving campaign, or workshopping responses to counteract climate change misinformation; the next, moderating a controversial news story which is getting hundreds of comments in minutes. It’s also refreshing working within a team who truly understands community management and the impact that safe, well-moderated online spaces can have.
What are some of your favourite places on the internet?
Because I’m online so much for work and, let’s be honest, for just life in general, I’m making a concerted effort to spend less time on social media. It’s a work in progress. I do enjoy an Instagram scroll though and my feed is a chaotic mix of world news and niche interests. One minute I’m consuming geopolitical content, the next I’m looking at renovation inspiration or saving book recommendations. It’s also a goldmine for cute animal content – which is the perfect social media palate cleanser.
What does remote work enable you to get up to outside of work?
Remote work has given me the kind of flexibility that has fundamentally changed my daily life. Without a commute eating into my mornings and evenings, I have more time to spend on things that are important to me – being present for my family, being able to quickly step out for some fresh air, walk my dogs in the middle of the day, run errands, or do something productive around the house. It isn’t just convenient; it’s a privilege that lets me integrate work into life rather than the other way round. It means less stress, fewer logistical headaches and the freedom to craft a routine that works for me and my family.
Tell us something about your life outside of work!
Outside of work there’s the usual stuff which comes with kids and family. We do have a lot of animals. Horses, dogs, cats. Twice a day you’ll find me in a horse paddock, carting feed, grooming, tending injuries (if you’re familiar with horses, you’ll understand this happens – frequently … ). They’re a huge commitment but also a huge joy.
What do you think the future of social media and/or community management holds?
As a Community Manager, watching the current social media landscape fracture under the weight of misinformation, polarisation and toxicity-breeding algorithms, I see both challenges and opportunities ahead. While current platforms often amplify division, it’s my belief that we’re evolving towards more authentic, community-centric experiences. What I’d like to see in the future is further emphasis on user safety and mental wellbeing, content authenticity, and the fostering of meaningful engagement. For those of us managing online spaces, this means focusing on creating safe, trustworthy environments.
