Meet the Team: Stella Mariss
The Quiip team is fully remote and based around Australia and in other parts of the world. Today, let’s get to know Melbourne-based Team Lead, Stella Mariss!

Tell us about you and Quiip!
I’m based in Melbourne, and I joined Quiip in February 2026! My background spans agency life and global organisations, including time at Google working on online safety initiatives — so brand reputation and keeping online spaces safe have been a through line in my career for a while now. When I came across the job description, I remember thinking, “this is truly tailor-made for me,” so naturally, I applied and the rest is history!
What do you enjoy about working with Quiip?
What I enjoy most is supporting our clients and their communities through the challenging moments, knowing they can lean on our partnership to protect their brand, and to offer reassurance, assistance and comfort to their community when it matters most.
I love that we get to be an extension of the brand, like extra eyes, ears and hands for the communities we support. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of helping escalate a community’s pressing concern to a client and seeing it through to a real resolution.
Beyond the work itself, I have to say Quiip’s remote culture, flexibility, and genuinely supportive people and leadership have made such a difference to my wellbeing and performance. It really is rare to find a workplace that cares this much about both.

What are some of your favourite places on the internet?
Honestly, what I love about social media is the sheer value it offers. It’s not a perfect space, and I won’t pretend there isn’t a fair share of noise (I do wish it was all good!), but there’s so much genuine goodness in there too, and that’s really what draws me in.
Job opportunities and scholarships, quick stretches for a sore neck, tips on navigating a baby’s first solid foods, a grandpa playing “Hey Jude” on his guitar with his lovely chihuahua, or someone’s honest mid-life crisis moment that makes you feel a little less alone. It gives us a window into other people’s lives and perspectives, and often opens doors to ideas we may never have found otherwise.
Of course, that openness comes with real risks too. That’s exactly why community moderation and trust & safety work matter. It’s what helps protect the good in these spaces — so the internet can stay safe, welcoming and genuinely valuable for everyone.
What does remote work enable you to get up to outside of work?
Being able to work from anywhere and manage my own schedule is something I don’t take for granted. It’s a genuine privilege, one that lets me spend more time with my loved ones while still being able to provide for them and myself.
No commute, the flexibility to go to the gym at a time that suits me, and being able to fit in laundry, cleaning or cooking around my day rather than letting it all pile up for the weekend. They might seem like small things, but over time they really do add up, making for a better rhythm to my week and, overall, a better quality of life. Also, when something spontaneous comes up, being able to swap shifts with other Quiipees is convenient too. It’s a workplace I feel genuinely grateful for.

Tell us something about your life outside of work.
I’m a homebody at heart! Movie nights and quiet time at home are my happy place. But lately, as I’ve become more aware of the importance of strength training, I’ve gone from zero gym sessions a week to almost daily visits. It’s challenging, and there’s no such thing as a “perfect” week — yet it’s been so rewarding to watch my strength build bit by bit. That shift has spilled into other parts of my life too — I’ve started going ono light hikes, most recently at Point Nepean National Park, and learned rowing for the first time ever!
What do you think the future of social media and/or community management holds?
I think the future of community management will increasingly be about cutting through misinformation, especially as AI reshapes how content is created and shared. Building genuine trust and connection will take on greater significance, and our role will be to help brands create safe, credible spaces where communities can connect with confidence.
